HistoSonics is a commercial-stage medtech company advancing the Edison® System, a novel non-invasive sonic beam therapy based on histotripsy. Since receiving FDA De Novo grant for the non-invasive destruction of liver tumors in 2023, the company has progressed beyond initial market entry into commercial expansion, reimbursement momentum, and ongoing clinical and pipeline development. In addition to its current liver tumor indication, HistoSonics is pursuing future indications across multiple applications including kidney, pancreas, prostate, neuro, women’s health, and other significant underserved human health areas, to realize the broader potential histotripsy across multiple disease states and medical specialties. Location: Hybrid - Plymouth, MN Travel Requirement: Up to 25% travel Position Summary (Why this role matters): The Clinical Training Specialist is responsible for delivering and executing HistoSonics' standardized onboarding program for Clinical Regional Managers, Account Managers, Clinical Specialists, and Procedural Development Specialists. This role serves as the primary instructor for new hire training, leading Foundations and Advanced Training while delivering classroom education, hands-on simulation, product training, and competency-based learning experiences that prepare employees for successful field immersion. Working closely with the Clinical Training Manager and cross-functional partners, the Clinical Training Specialist ensures a consistent, scalable, and high-quality onboarding experience by delivering standardized curriculum, evaluating learner progress, and preparing new hires for transition into the field development phase of onboarding. This position plays a critical role in accelerating new hire readiness, improving competency development, and supporting organizational growth as new products, software enhancements, and clinical indications are introduced.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a clinical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in clinical applications, clinical education, medical affairs, or post-market clinical support within medical devices or interventional medicine, or equivalent hands-on experience supporting the HistoSonics Edison System.
  • Strong understanding of image-guided procedures, treatment workflow and physician training models.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret clinical data, evaluate safety trends and communicate complex clinical concepts clearly.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, including translating clinical evidence into field-ready guidance.
  • Ability to travel 25%

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the classroom-based portion of the organization's standardized 12-week onboarding program by leading Foundations and Advanced Training, facilitating instructor-led education, assessing knowledge progression, and preparing new hires for successful field immersion.
  • Facilitate engaging instructor-led classroom sessions, virtual training, hands-on workshops, simulation-based learning, and skills laboratories.
  • Deliver education on disease states, anatomy, histotripsy technology, mechanism of action, product knowledge, procedural workflow, Edison System operation, and customer engagement best practices.
  • Reinforce standardized clinical workflows, organizational processes, and customer engagement expectations throughout onboarding.
  • Evaluate learner progress through written assessments, practical demonstrations, competency checklists, and knowledge validation activities.
  • Provide individualized coaching and developmental feedback to prepare learners for successful field immersion and continued competency development.
  • Ensure all onboarding milestones, training records, competency documentation, and Learning Management System (LMS) requirements are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Deliver education related to product enhancements, software releases, new clinical indications, and evolving clinical best practices to maintain organizational readiness.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Training Manager to continuously improve onboarding curriculum, instructional materials, and training effectiveness.
  • Assist in developing presentations, facilitator guides, simulation exercises, job aids, and digital learning resources.
  • Support updates to training content as new software releases, products, clinical evidence, and business initiatives are introduced.
  • Maintain standardized training materials and ensure consistency across all onboarding cohorts.
  • Assist in measuring onboarding effectiveness through learner feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Partner with Clinical Applications, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Marketing, and Product Development to ensure training content remains current and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Support the coordination and logistics of onboarding events, training labs, and internal education programs.
