Faculty Position - Part-Time Clinical-Track Faculty Position – Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA)
About The Position
The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University is seeking applications for doctorally prepared clinical track faculty in its Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA) Program. This role is crucial for advancing the School's mission to educate visionary nurse leaders and scholars, generate and apply knowledge, and transform nursing and healthcare systems. The ideal candidate will be a doctorally-prepared Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with experience as a nurse educator and a focused area of educational or clinical scholarship in nurse anesthesia practice. Priority will be given to individuals who can teach across a wide array of clinical topics in nurse anesthesia at the graduate/DNAP level. The position requires current national certification through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). Responsibilities include clinical and didactic teaching in areas such as pharmacology, advanced physiology and pathophysiology, principles of anesthesia practice, simulation, and supervised clinical practicum experiences. Expertise in specialty populations/surgeries like pediatrics, obstetrics, or cardiothoracic is highly valued.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree required (DNP, EdD, or PhD in Nursing or related field)
- Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) through the NBCRNA
- Current, unencumbered licensure (or eligibility for licensure) as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia
- Current or recent clinical practice experience as a CRNA
- Experience as a nurse educator, preceptor, or clinical instructor in nurse anesthesia or a related advanced practice specialty
- For Associate Professor/Professor rank: an established record of teaching excellence and scholarship/research demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
- Strong clinical knowledge across anesthesia subspecialties (e.g., obstetric, pediatric, regional/pain management, cardiothoracic, critical care)
- Effective classroom, simulation-based, and clinical teaching skills across varied learning environments (in-person, distance/hybrid)
- Curriculum development and assessment design skills aligned with graduate-level competencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for scholarly writing, student mentoring, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Familiarity with accreditation processes and regulatory/compliance requirements for nurse anesthesia education
Nice To Haves
- Expertise in specialty population/surgeries, e.g. pediatrics, obstetrics, cardiothoracic
- Experience with nurse anesthesia program accreditation standards (COA) and clinical site/practicum coordination is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach didactic and clinical courses within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Nurse Anesthesia Program, including pharmacology, advanced physiology/pathophysiology, and principles of anesthesia practice
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate students during simulation, skills-based learning, and clinical practicum experiences at affiliated clinical sites
- Develop, revise, and update course curricula to reflect current standards of nurse anesthesia practice
- Advise and mentor DNP students on academic progress, clinical competency, and scholarly projects
- Willing to engage in scholarship and research activities relevant to nurse anesthesia practice or education, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations
- Maintain clinical currency through ongoing practice as a CRNA
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners on education and scholarship initiatives
