Depending on the type of visit, there are specific areas designed to take care of individual needs efficiently and compassionately. Backed by the full resources of Cleveland Clinic, the Emergency Department provides advanced care to the Brunswick community. As a Clinical Technician in the ED, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. Your work plays a direct role in our mission to continuously provide patients with the best healthcare experience possible. A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross before within new hire period (Nursing Students required to have BLS prior to hire)
  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
  • Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education/training may substitute for some/all of the stated experience (i.e. mental health experience)
  • Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG’s and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
