The Minneapolis 7th floor is a 33-bed pediatric unit specializing in hematology, oncology, general medical/surgical care, and behavioral crisis monitoring. The team focuses on comprehensive care for patients with hematology and oncology diseases, including diagnosis, treatment, and end-of-life care. They also manage general medical/surgical patients, prioritizing those with non-infectious illnesses to protect immunocompromised patients. The unit utilizes three inpatient rooms for behavioral crisis monitoring, with patient stays varying from days to months. Collaboration with the outpatient hematology/oncology clinic ensures seamless ongoing treatment and system management. The unit fosters an environment of teamwork, open communication, safety, respect, learning, professional growth, and innovation.
