Children’s Minnesota is a leading pediatric health system dedicated to providing specialized care for children from birth through young adulthood. The Minneapolis 7th floor is a 33-bed pediatric unit specializing in hematology, oncology, general medical/surgical care, and behavioral crisis monitoring. The team focuses on comprehensive care for patients with hematology and oncology diseases, including diagnosis, treatment, and end-of-life care. They also manage general medical/surgical patients, prioritizing those with non-infectious illnesses to protect immunocompromised patients. The unit utilizes three inpatient rooms for behavioral crisis monitoring, with patient stays varying from days to months. Collaboration with the outpatient hematology/oncology clinic ensures seamless ongoing treatment and system management. The unit fosters an environment of teamwork, open communication, safety, respect, learning, professional growth, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Completed a nursing assistant course or equivalent experience, or completed a nursing or health care related clinical practicum course.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of previous Nursing Assistant experience or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proficient communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English to perform functions of the position.
  • Skills in basic computer operation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe patient care as delegated by licensed nursing staff.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies per unit standard.
