About The Position

The Clinical Supervisor supervises staff, providing clinical and administrative leadership. Coordinates program activities and fiscal management. Coordinates or provides substance abuse and mental health services training, and other related staff development activities.

Requirements

  • California state license in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapist with a graduate degree in psychology, social work, or counseling.
  • Completion of required Clinical Supervision Certification per BBS, if applicable.
  • Experience in the provision of behavioral health services, and knowledge of the developing or current service delivery options.
  • Experience in meeting compliance standards for federal, state and local government contracts and grant requirements.
  • Experience in program planning, program development and implementation, and program evaluation.
  • Ability to evaluate staff regarding their clinical ability and effectiveness in provision of and/or arrange for appropriate services for clients.
  • Valid California driver’s license; ability and willingness to travel off site.
  • Must have computer skills adequate to perform job duties.
  • Able to stand, stoop, bend, squat and reach for purpose of performing job duties such as handling materials stocked on shelves, filing, lifting and assisting in emergency situations.
  • Routinely lift and move items weighing up to ten pounds and occasionally up to twenty-five pounds; is expected to ask for assistance and use a dolly or cart for any heavy items.
  • Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties.
  • Able to sit at desk, use keyboard & mouse, write and physically perform other job duties.
  • Duties may require occasional use of stool or small ladder.

Responsibilities

  • Performs or delegates the responsibilities in this job description as appropriate.
  • Provides Clinical Supervision for license-eligible Interns or Psychological Assistants per BBS standard to MFT or LCSW Interns or Psychological Assistants.
  • Recommends human resources actions such as hire, discharge, warning and disciplinary actions.
  • Takes part in and documents any actions taken.
  • Prepares performance evaluations.
  • Assures that documentation is timely and meets contract, licensing, certification and other required standards.
  • Reviews client files for accurate and timely documentation as well as appropriate application of program services to meet client needs.
  • Provides consultation and guidance to line staff in addressing client management, crisis intervention, and emergencies to insure adherence to professional standards and policies.
  • Ensures client confidentiality and privacy, including client records.
  • Ensures staff compliance with program processes including charting/documentation, billing, and Q&A.
  • Contributes to the development of client-sensitive policies and procedures supporting the delivery of programs and services.
  • Under the direction of the Divisional Director, coordinates or provides substance abuse and mental health services training, and other related staff development activities.
  • Participates in development and implementation of unit goals and standards, monitors effectiveness and compliance.
  • Prepares necessary reports and records as requested.
  • Serves as a resource and demonstrates leadership in collaboration across departmental lines to resolve inter- and intra-departmental issues which could interfere with delivery of patient care.
  • In collaboration with Program Manager(s), supports compliance to Federal funded treatment grants.
  • In coordination with Program Managers supports compliance with all appropriate professional standards (including facilities and clinician licensing and certification requirements).
  • In collaboration with Program Managers, assures coordination and collaboration among all programs and services, and provides support to an integrated case-management approach to client services.
  • Assists Program Managers to develop, implement, and evaluate program.
  • Inputs NOMS data for contract evaluation.
  • Actively works with local, state, federal and private-sector representatives to develop resources and support for behavioral health care programs and services.
  • Assists in the preparation of program budget.
  • Operates program within budget.
  • Attends meetings and participates in committees as assigned.
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
  • Represents BHS well in all contacts.
  • Maintains cultural sensitivity at all times.
  • Maintains familiarity with BHS policies and procedures and other applicable regulations.
  • Performs job duties accordingly.
  • Makes presentations within BHS and in the community as needed.
  • Provides leadership and serves as a positive role model to staff.
  • Provides input into the development and maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Supervises, trains and orients staff and volunteers.
  • Attends trainings as appropriate to fulfill requirements, update job skills and promote development, and arranges for staff to do the same.
  • Carries out safety program in assigned area to achieve and maintain a safe work area and safe work practices.
  • Ensures proper and economical use of staff, equipment, supplies, and facility.
  • Ensures that assigned facility area of responsibility is maintained in a good and safe state of repair.
  • Monitors verbal and written release of information by staff.
  • Works as a team member.
  • Recognizes personal issues that have an impact on job performance and interactions with clients.
  • Conveys respect for cultural and lifestyle diversities of clients and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
