The Clinical Staff Pharmacist reviews prescriptions for appropriateness, communicates with healthcare professionals and patients, and directs technical staff.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Pharmacy or Bachelor’s Degree Pharmacy
  • Ability to accurately dispense and monitor medications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent judgments under stressful situations at times.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security.
  • RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years relevant pharmacist experience or 1 year PGY1 pharmacy residency
  • Familiarity with common pharmacy technologies, both software and hardware.
  • BCPS - Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and dispenses medications for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Evaluates evidence-based literature to offer appropriate clinical recommendations to optimize drug selection and individualization of therapy.
  • Ensures and executes policies and procedures that promote appropriate, cost-effective, and safe medication use.
  • Performs clinical medication surveillance, documents interventions, and reports adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
  • Coordinates the activities of pharmacy technicians in preparing, labeling, and delivering medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Counsels patients and provides drug information to physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and patients regarding medications, drug usage, and compatibility.
  • Weighs, measures, and prepares sterile and non-sterile medication products using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Acts as a resource or consultant to other healthcare professionals regarding the appropriateness, availability, cost, and/or alternatives to therapies.
