The Clinical Staff Pharmacist reviews prescriptions for appropriateness, compatibility, and potential drug-related problems, ensuring patient medication therapy is safe, effective, and timely. They communicate with healthcare professionals and patients to ensure medical care safety and effectiveness, provide direction to technical staff, and participate in performance enhancement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Pharmacy or Bachelor’s Degree Pharmacy
  • Ability to accurately dispense and monitor medications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent judgments under stressful situations at times.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security.
  • RP - Registered Pharmacist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years relevant pharmacist experience or 1 year PGY1 pharmacy residency
  • Familiarity with common pharmacy technologies, both software and hardware.
  • BCPS - Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist - Board of Pharmacy Specialties Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and dispenses medications for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Evaluates evidence-based literature to offer appropriate clinical recommendations to optimize drug selection and individualize therapy.
  • Ensures and executes policies and procedures for appropriate, cost-effective, and safe medication use.
  • Performs clinical medication surveillance, documents interventions, and reports adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
  • Coordinates the activities of pharmacy technicians in preparing, labeling, and delivering medications and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Counsels patients and provides drug information to physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals, and patients regarding medications, drug usage, and compatibility, in accordance with OBRA or other regulatory standards.
  • Weighs, measures, and prepares sterile and non-sterile medication products using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Acts as a resource or consultant to other healthcare professionals regarding the appropriateness, availability, cost, and/or alternatives to therapies.
