About The Position

Solano County's Behavioral Health mission is to provide person-centered, safe, effective, efficient, timely and equitable mental health and substance abuse services, that are supported by friends and community, that promote wellness/recovery, and that fully incorporate shared decision making between the people we serve, their family members and our community providers. Behavioral Health provides psychiatric services to Solano Community in an integrated health care environment in three adult and child outpatient clinics located in Vallejo, Fairfield, and Vacaville. Our Services: In addition to outpatient psychiatric services, the Behavioral Health Division offers the following to its clients: Outpatient Psychotherapy Case Management A.C.T. and TIP model services (Full Service Partnerships) Wellness Centers Consumer and Family Support Solano County Behavioral Health is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Note: All CalPERS retirees applying for Extra Help positions must meet CalPERS post retirement employment requirements. Work must be performed for a limited duration and retiree annuitant may not work more than 960 hours per fiscal year. The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County. Extra-help employees do not have rights to a regular position or continued employment and are excluded from benefits and civil service. The hours worked cannot exceed more than 29 hours per week and 999 hours in a fiscal year.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related field of study which would qualify for approval by the California State Board of Behavioral Science Examiners as a registered Marriage Family Therapist Intern or Associate Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related field of study and two years of experience performing counseling or rehabilitative services for mentally, emotionally and/or chemically dependent clients may be substituted for a Master’s degree.
  • Within six (6) months of hire, whichever is later, all non-licensed or non-certified employees providing counseling services in an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) program must be registered to obtain certification as an Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor, Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor and/or Certified Addiction Specialist (formally known as AOD counselor) with a certifying organization approved by the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals -CCAPP (formally known as Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs).
  • Registrants shall complete certification as a substance use disorder (SUD) Counselor, Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor and/or Certified Addiction Specialist (formally known as AOD counselor) within five (5) years of the date of registration.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver’s License may be required at the time of appointment.

  • Take direction from the lead clinician and/or Clinical supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Provides mental health treatment services for mental, emotional, behavioral, and chemically dependent disorders in in-patient or out-patient settings, including assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, non-medical psychotherapy, and initiation of involuntary holds.
  • Provides and oversees both treatment and continuing care.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records related to patient or client services.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Some positions in this class may provide substance abuse treatment services.
