Vitalant is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented RN II Research to join the Clinical Research team at the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania. As an RN II Research, you will play a critical role in advancing innovative clinical research that improves the lives of individuals living with inherited bleeding disorders. Working alongside physicians, research coordinators and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals, you will provide research-related nursing care, support clinical trials and ensure patient safety while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance and research integrity. Your work will directly contribute to groundbreaking therapies and improved treatment options for patients across Western Pennsylvania and beyond.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • One+ year of research experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of clinical research principles and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Excellent patient assessment and clinical judgment skills.
  • Exceptional communication and patient education abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple research protocols simultaneously.
  • Experience maintaining regulatory documentation and research records.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, sponsors, clinical staff and research teams.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach with a passion for advancing research and improving patient care.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in hematology, oncology, infusion, rare disease or specialty clinic settings is desirable.
  • Experience coordinating clinical trials or research studies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support clinical research studies involving patients with inherited bleeding disorders.
  • Provide direct nursing care to research participants while ensuring patient safety and protocol compliance.
  • Perform study-related assessments, specimen collection, medication administration and patient monitoring.
  • Educate patients and families regarding clinical research studies, informed consent and study participation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, research coordinators, sponsors and multidisciplinary team members to ensure successful study execution.
  • Accurately document research activities and maintain study records in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations and study protocols.
  • Monitor participants for adverse events and report findings in accordance with regulatory and sponsor requirements.
  • Coordinate study visits, patient scheduling and follow-up activities.
  • Assist with data collection, source documentation, regulatory compliance and quality assurance activities.
  • Support the implementation of new clinical research studies and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
