About The Position

The Clinical Research Nurse II at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University coordinates, implements, and evaluates clinical research trials, studies, and projects. The role contributes to protocol development, participant recruitment and screening, patient and family education, clinical care and research procedures, data collection and reporting, and the preparation of research materials. The nurse may oversee financial accounts, provide infusion duties, and direct or supervise other research nurses or support staff. Employees may be required to work with potentially hazardous agents and take specific precautions against them or receive immunizations.

Requirements

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia.
Three years of related nursing experience.
Must be credentialed through Emory Healthcare under the category of RN II.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, implement, and evaluate clinical research trials, studies, and projects.
Provide direction in the development of research protocols.
Recruit and screen potential study participants and develop and conduct patient and family education.
Oversee financial accounts to ensure operations remain within approved levels.
Perform patient evaluations, administer medications and research instruments, and provide nursing support for specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures.
Make referrals to in-house or community professionals and serve as a clinical resource.
Collect data, assist in developing data collection systems, and compile reports.
May provide infusion duties.
Assist with writing research grants, publications in medical and nursing literature, study materials, brochures, and correspondence.
Provide direction and may supervise other Research Nurses or support members.
Perform related responsibilities as required.
Work with potentially hazardous agents and take specific precautions against them and/or receive immunizations, as required.
