About The Position

Castle Biosciences is growing and looking to hire a full-time Clinical Research Laboratory Technologist to work in our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA. This role supports exciting clinical research studies, initiatives, and innovation by processing research samples using fluorescence technologies. The work contributes to projects impacting patient healthcare, including evidence development studies and process improvements. The technologist will process patient samples according to SOPs for high complexity clinical laboratory testing, maintain excellent records, and collaborate with the clinical scientist team to develop hypotheses, analyze data, and identify insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology from an accredited institution.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment.
  • Completion of military training for laboratory technicians as high complexity testing.
  • Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training program.
  • Minimum 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses, including 6 semester hours of both Chemistry & Biology & an additional 12 semester hours in any combination of Chemistry, Biology, or Medical Laboratory.
  • Proficiency, scientific creativity, successful collaboration with others, and independent work.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years of clinical laboratory experience or 2-4 years of clinical research experience.
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Technologist in Molecular Biology (MB) board certification (if not already credentialed upon hire).

Responsibilities

  • Processing of patient samples according to SOPs for high complexity clinical laboratory testing including fluorescence staining and fluorescence microscopy with primary focus of clinical study subject samples.
  • Maintaining excellent records of testing completed for evidence development to support Castle's clinical test offerings.
  • Working hand-in-hand with the clinical scientist team to develop and test hypotheses, analyze data, and identify meaningful insights.
  • Supporting exciting clinical research studies, initiatives, and innovation.
  • Processing of research samples using fluorescence technologies.
