About The Position

The Institute for Population and Precision Health (IPPH) is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to perform routine assignments related to the documentation and reporting of basic clinical studies. This role supports decisions impacting clinical research across the University. The IPPH integrates a wide spectrum of factors such as human health behaviors, environmental factors, social and economic factors, policies, and genetic determinants of health into studies focused on disease treatment and prevention, as well as wellness maintenance. The Institute leverages the University of Chicago’s institutional strength in population science with research spanning diverse fields like genetic medicine, cancer epidemiology, microbiome, and epigenomics, all with the common goal of improving human health outcomes. A major goal of the Institute is to develop a new multidisciplinary training program to equip researchers with emerging tools and methods for precision health research within a population health framework. Our faculty lead research projects in biostatistics, epidemiology, and health services research, and participate in interdisciplinary teams to address complex health and healthcare problems. This at-will position is funded by contractual grant funding, which is renewed under grantor provisions. Employment is contingent upon continued grant funding and satisfactory job performance.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Coordination and quality control for observational and interventional studies, including clinic and community-based studies, within the Institute for Population and Precision Health.
Oversight of the collection of clinical data, survey data, environmental data, and associated samples and biospecimens.
Assist with subject engagement, screening, recruitment, consent, data and specimen collection, and subject follow-up and retention activities.
Maintain detailed records of results, which may include collecting, extracting, and entering data, and/or preparing basic charts and graphs.
Monitor study participants, schedule, and conduct study-related procedures (e.g., interviews, phlebotomies, and follow-ups).
Establish data quality control checks.
Work with the Research Manager in the planning, development, and evaluation of day-to-day research activities.
Coordination of data acquisition, entry, QC, and query response.
Provide leadership and organization in clinic and community settings for the Research Assistant team.
Ensure the team functions in a manner that supports the highest quality population research.
Assist the Research Manager with onboarding and training new Research Assistants.
Accountable for all tasks in basic clinical studies.
Assist with various professional, organizational, and operational tasks under direct supervision.
Support quality assurance reviews conducted by study sponsors, federal agencies, or specially designated review groups.
Use knowledge of clinical studies to coordinate the collection of analyzable clinical research data and/or samples.
Perform other related work as needed.
