About The Position

Cornerstone Christian Counseling offers unpaid practicum and internship opportunities for current master’s-level students pursuing mental health counseling or marriage and family therapy who need clinical hours for graduation and future licensure. Students must be enrolled in a CACREP-accredited program and registered in a practicum or internship class with their school. Opportunities are offered at Cornerstone’s Colorado offices, including Colorado Springs, and placements are limited each semester. Students may see clients in person at an office, subject to availability, and may conduct some sessions via teletherapy if they have a private, professional home workspace. The program offers start dates in August, January, and May. Students must be able to complete at least two consecutive internship semesters; Cornerstone does not onboard students for only one semester. Prior completion of a practicum is required before beginning an internship at Cornerstone, though the practicum itself need not have been completed there. Students attend required weekly group supervision on Wednesdays from 9–11 a.m. MDT and weekly triadic supervision with a supervisor and another intern. The first Wednesday group meeting of each month is held in person at the student’s office; other group meetings are online. Practicum students in their first semester must keep seven hours available for client sessions, averaging three to five client hours per week. Internship students in their second or third semesters must keep 12 hours available, averaging eight to 10 client hours per week. All students must have at least one weeknight or Saturday block available. Cornerstone is a bring-your-own-device organization. Students provide their own computer and equipment meeting the stated technical requirements, and must have a quiet, private, professional workspace suitable for confidential remote meetings. Applications are competitive, reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and require agreement with Cornerstone’s Statement of Faith. The posting describes a Christian worldview and a commitment to clinical excellence.
