About The Position

The University of Southern Maine (USM) is seeking a Clinical Placement Coordinator to join the School of Nursing and play a vital role in coordinating clinical placements that prepare the next generation of nurses. Working closely with faculty, clinical agencies, and agency placement coordinators and staff, you will coordinate and secure clinical experiences for undergraduate nursing students, manage placement timelines, maintain clinical affiliation agreements, and collaborate with the School of Nursing Student Services Coordinator to ensure students meet all placement requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience.
  • At least one year of experience in project management, program coordination, healthcare administration, higher education, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the School of Nursing leadership and faculty to determine clinical placement needs each semester.
  • Manage all undergraduate nursing student clinical placement requests through the Centralized Clinical Placement System (CCPS), Clinician Nexus and/or other agency clinical placement platform, ensuring submissions meet agency deadlines.
  • Coordinate all aspects of undergraduate nursing student clinical placements, including group clinical experiences, senior practicum placements, and student orientation requirements.
  • Maintain and monitor clinical affiliation agreements, initiating new contracts and renewals as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to resolve clinical placement challenges and ensure successful student experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records related to clinical assignments, placement documentation, and agency communications.
  • Coordinate scholarship activities related to the MaineHealth Nursing Workforce Development Memorandum of Understanding in collaboration with healthcare partners, university leadership, and Finance Department.
  • Represent the School of Nursing by participating in statewide placement meetings, professional organizations, recruitment events, and community partnership activities.
  • Assist with additional program initiatives, including N95 Respirator Fit Testing coordination and other duties as assigned.
