About The Position

Children’s Mercy is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for their Kidney & Transplant services. This role supports the hospital’s transplant services, working alongside existing specialists to cover kidney and heart transplants. The position involves expanding kidney transplant and dialysis services, as well as supporting the liver transplant service. Success in this role requires experience with solid organ transplantation, including immunosuppressive therapies, transplant-related complications, pharmacokinetics, and medication management. The specialist will assess and improve patient care by optimizing immunosuppressive therapy, monitoring for adverse effects and drug interactions, educating patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the development of transplant-specific protocols and guidelines. The role may offer remote work opportunities at the discretion of management and requires the candidate to live in the Kansas City metro area. Requirements

• Other RPH/Pharm.D. and 7 or more years experience
• Must be able to demonstrate activities consistent with Clinical Specialists position description in previous experience
• Licensed Pharmacist - MO
• Licensed Pharmacist - KS
• Employees must obtain Licensed Pharmacist - MO or equivalent within 90 days
• PHARM LIC MO Licensed Pharmacist - MO or proof of pharmacy technician license, pharmacy intern license, or application submitted to board of pharmacy prior to hire with pharmacist license obtained within 90 days of hire. Required 90 Days
• PHARM LIC KS Licensed Pharmacist - KS or proof of pharmacy technician license, pharmacy intern license, or application submitted to board of pharmacy prior to hire with pharmacist license obtained within 90 days of hire. Only if primary work location is in Kansas. Required 90 Days

Responsibilities

• Provides patient-focused pharmaceutical care through rational, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy evaluation, management, recommendations, and patient education.
• Participates in the development and presentation of orientation, education, and training programs to patients, pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff and to other parties as appropriate upon request.
• Participates in departmental quality improvement projects upon request and facilitates effective communication regarding initiatives to appropriate parties.
• Maintains competence required for current job title/position and engages in professional self-development.
