About The Position

The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will provide specialized pharmaceutical care services to ensure safe, effective, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapy to optimize outcomes for patients with a broad range of disease states with emphasis on cardiovascular chronic conditions. Pharmaceutical care services include but are not limited to assessing patient needs, incorporating age and disease specific characteristics into drug therapy and patient education, adjusting care according to patient response, and providing clinical interventions to detect, mitigate, and prevent medication adverse events. Clinical Pharmacist Specialists serve as a resource and liaison to the clinics, pharmacy, and personnel at Wayne Health in addition to external groups. Clinical Pharmacist Specialists will conduct clinical research and practice advancement projects as well as patient care quality and regulatory compliance initiatives designed to improve medication-use processes or pharmacy practice. Clinical Pharmacist Specialists provide medication and practice-related education/training and actively serve as preceptors for Doctor of Pharmacy Students and pharmacy residents. Candidates must be positive and professional when interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and staff and must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The individual must also be comfortable working autonomously, with a multidisciplinary team, and handling multiple responsibilities. Identifies and leads resolution of technical and non-technical problems that arise during all operational processes. Meets with management to report pharmacy performance and offers suggestions for improvement as necessary

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm D)
  • Post graduate year 1 [PGY1] in Pharmacy Practice
  • Michigan pharmacist license
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working autonomously, with a multidisciplinary team, and handling multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Superior management skills that emphasize team building and strong leadership with the ability to provide clear direction to the department.
  • Proficient skill in oral and written communication
  • Ability to exercise initiative, problem solving, leadership and decision making
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures to everyday problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Ability to organize plan and prioritize
  • Compliance with Department Health and Safety policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Post graduate year 2 [PGY2] in Ambulatory Care or equivalent clinical experience
  • Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) or Board Eligible
  • Experience with billing/reimbursement models
