About The Position

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist assists with the planning, organization, and direction of clinical pharmaceutical services to achieve a high-quality standard of care in pharmacy services related to specific areas of clinical expertise throughout the continuum. This role provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes for patients. The specialist collaborates with pharmacy managers in developing training and education programs and evaluation processes for clinical activities of the pharmacist staff in their specific area of clinical expertise. They prepare formulary review and medication use evaluations of medications used in their area of expertise for presentation to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and participate in multidisciplinary teams related to clinical pharmacy initiatives. The role also involves achieving and maintaining participatory management and partnership with other Clinical Specialists and satisfactory working relationships with other pharmacy leadership, staff, and hospital departments, committees, and administrators. A strong emphasis is placed on patient care, with the patient as the highest priority and central focus in all endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the planning, organization and direction of clinical pharmaceutical services to achieve high quality standard of care in pharmacy services related to specific areas of clinical expertise throughout the continuum.
