About The Position

Reporting to the Zonal Director of Pharmacy Services, the Clinical Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Services is responsible for the day-to-day management and the utilization of the financial, material and human resources allocated to a full-service Pharmacy Department and satellites associated with that hospital. Working with a varied group of health professionals, including other pharmacy and inter-professional health care leaders and a dedicated frontline staff of Pharmacy Practice Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacists, the Manager contributes to the effective and efficient attainment of departmental goals and objectives that support those of the Pharmacy Service and Nova Scotia Health. The Pharmacy Manager will complete the daily functions of planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the many activities of the department to result in safe, high quality, sustainable and optimal outcomes for those served.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or an entry level Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy from a CCAPP (or similar standard) accredited university required
  • Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, with the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists as an Active Direct Patient Care Pharmacist.
  • Demonstrated ability to champion strategic directions, working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and resulting in improved operations with enhanced focus on patient safety and service is required.
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, independent and collaborative decision-making skills required.
  • Evidence of effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Evidence of collaborative and productive work-related relationships with high quality optimal program outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of recent experience in managing human, financial and material resources allocated to Pharmacy Service provision an asset
  • Advanced Degree (MHS, MHA, MPh, MBA or post-grad Pharm D) an asset.
  • Completion of a Hospital Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Residency an asset.
  • Evidence of skills and experience in applying the principles of Medication Safety and Quality / Risk Management an asset.
  • Experience with relevant research studies an asset.
  • Experience with LEAN work flow analysis and review an asset.
  • Experience with Failure Mode Effects and Analysis review (Quality Review) is an asset.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
