About The Position

UPMC Presbyterian, a leading adult tertiary care and academic medical center located in the heart of Oakland, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join its dynamic Critical Care team. Our team provides comprehensive care to high‑acuity, critically ill, and injured patients who benefit from cutting‑edge research led by the same clinicians delivering evidence‑based care at the bedside. As a Clinical Pharmacist in the Critical Care unit, you will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary care team, providing comprehensive medication management during critical interventions such as intubation, sedation, cardiac arrest, stroke, and trauma resuscitations. You’ll work closely with providers and clinical teams to optimize pharmacotherapy, support antimicrobial stewardship, and ensure safe, effective medication use. Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree; PharmD preferred
  • Current licensure as a Pharmacist in practicing state
  • Completion of ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency or 3 years clinical pharmacy experience
  • Knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice and service, comprehensive medication management, and evidence-based medicine in specialized area appropriate for clinical assignments
  • Pharmacist
  • Act 34

Nice To Haves

  • BPS Board Certification preferred.
  • ASHP accredited PGY2 in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care through real-time medication management in emergent and high-complexity clinical scenarios
  • Facilitate acute interventions including medication procurement, preparation, and therapeutic monitoring
  • Provide timely drug information and evidence-based recommendations
  • Participate in critical care-focused research, quality improvement, and practice advancement initiatives
  • Precept pharmacy students and residents; contribute to ongoing education of clinical staff
