Clinical Pharmacist - Inpatient Central Pharmacy
About The Position
Join our team of respected experts in medication therapy management. The UW Health Pharmacy department offers challenging and rewarding work. We are seeking a Pharmacist – Inpatient Central Pharmacy to be a consistent presence in the pharmacy production areas and oversee medication distribution processes. This role involves working with various pieces of central automation and technology, and requires knowledge of USP Chapter 797 and sterile compounding procedures. The pharmacist will also work with technicians to help them understand their critical role in patient care and medication safety, provide guidance, supervision, and hold them accountable for their daily tasks and responsibilities. Participation in quality improvement, assurance, and compliance systems pertinent to medication distribution is also expected. Recent PharmD graduates with strong rotational experience are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or a PharmD degree Required
- 1 year of clinical patient care and orders management experience Required
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Wisconsin within 90 Days Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 Days Required
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an ASHP Accredited Residency training program Preferred
- 3 years of institutional experience (hospital or integrated health system) or completion of an ASHP accredited residency training program Preferred
- Certification through the appropriate certifying program (Board of Pharmacy Specialties, National Board of Nutrition Support Certification, National Certification Board for Anticoagulation Providers, Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board, etc.) Preferred
Responsibilities
- Be a consistent presence in the pharmacy production areas and oversee medication distribution processes.

- Be well versed in the requirements of USP Chapter 797 and sterile compounding procedures.
- Work with the technicians to help them understand their critical role in patient care and medication safety, to provide them with guidance, some supervision, and to help hold them accountable for their daily tasks and responsibilities.
