We are seeking a Float Clinical Pharmacist to provide clinical and operational support across multiple inpatient service lines, helping ensure safe, effective, and high-quality medication use for our patients. In this role, you will apply your broad acute care knowledge while developing deeper familiarity with a wide range of specialties and care environments. No two days are exactly the same. You may support a medical or surgical unit one day and transition to a different inpatient service the next, collaborating with new teams while applying consistent clinical standards. The pace is engaging and intellectually stimulating, offering exposure to a broad range of disease states, therapies, and patient needs. This variety allows float pharmacists to sharpen their clinical versatility while remaining deeply connected to direct patient care. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or Pharm. D Degree required.
  • PGY-1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience. (3.years).
  • Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy. License required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider. BLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • PGY-2 residency is preferred for specialty areas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services across a variety of acute care and inpatient practice areas based on operational and patient care needs
  • Review, verify, and manage medication orders with a strong emphasis on patient safety, evidence based practice, and therapeutic optimization
  • Serve as a clinical resource to physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other members of the care team
  • Identify, prevent, and resolve medication related problems for patients with complex and evolving clinical conditions
  • Support transitions of care through medication reconciliation, monitoring, and patient specific recommendations
  • Contribute to operational excellence by maintaining continuity of pharmacy services across units and shifts
