Clinical Outcomes Specialist - Inpatient Rehabilitation and Neurology
About The Position
The Clinical Outcomes Specialist at MD Anderson Cancer Center identifies quality improvement opportunities, analyzes patient outcomes, and supports the delivery of high quality, patient centered care. This role partners with the interprofessional team to coordinate care across the continuum, improve processes, and enhance clinical outcomes for complex patient populations. The Rehab/Neuro unit is a 32 bed unit that cares for neurosurgery, neuro oncology, and inpatient rehabilitation patients. The patient population is primarily adults ages 18 and older. The unit focuses on acute care and neuro progressive care patients who require close monitoring, especially within the first 24 hours post surgery. Quality and patient outcomes are central to practice, and the team actively participates in evidence based practice, committees, and professional development opportunities. The acute care rehabilitation service supports safe transitions to the community and includes bowel and bladder retraining, dysphagia management, tracheostomy and ostomy care, wound care, and medication management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Master’s Degree in a healthcare field
- Five years of clinical nursing experience
- Three years of oncology nursing experience
- Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Certification in quality or specialty focused area

- Three years of oncology nursing experience with a preferred advanced degree
Responsibilities

- Lead and collaborate with the interprofessional team in planning, delivery, and evaluation of patient focused care
- Coordinate and integrate care across the continuum for assigned patient populations
- Analyze patient data and outcomes to drive improvements in care delivery
