About The Position

The Pharmacist provides quality pharmaceutical care by evaluating patients’ drug therapy, recommending appropriate drug therapy and serving as an educational resource to patients and other health care professionals. The Pharmacist also utilizes a computer system to enter orders dispense medications and intravenous solutions to patients’ in an accurate and timely manner and supervises technical employees. The Pharmacist checks all technical work before doses are dispensed.

Requirements

• BS or PharmD from a School of Pharmacy.
• Current licensure in the State of Alabama.
• Controlled substances permit.
• Parenteral license.
• BCLS provider.
• Effective communication skills.
• Competence in mathematical calculations.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care that is appropriate to the various ages of the patient population.
• Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of a computer keyboard).
• May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions.
• Stooping or kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove/replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers).
• Sitting, walking, or standing for a long period of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary.
• Normal range of hearing and vision to perform work and communicate effectively.
• Must be able to physically operate the equipment used for the job.

Nice To Haves

• Health system experience.
• ACLS preferred.
• Preceptor license (when eligible).
