Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing-care standards. The nurse works on a unique 30-bed unit caring for female patients, primarily those with gynecologic oncology needs. Care includes chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, symptom and pain management, palliative care, and hospice care. The unit provides moderate- to high-acuity care involving high-complexity interventions, coordinated by a multidisciplinary team that includes oncology-trained nurses, advanced practice nurses, case managers, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy, psychosocial support, and physicians. The nurse promotes patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment; educates patients and families on illness or injury management, post-treatment home care, and medication administration; and contributes to patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and professional development. In collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver, the nurse develops, implements, and documents individualized plans of care with defined goals, and proactively coordinates communication across the continuum of care. The nurse assesses physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, as well as patient preferences and barriers to involvement, including values and emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices. The schedule is three 12-hour shifts. Sign-on bonus eligible.
