Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with nursing care standards. The role is on a unique 30-bed unit caring for female patients hospitalized for female-related issues, with a primary focus on gynecologic oncology. Care includes chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, symptom and pain management, palliative care, and hospice care. The unit provides moderate- to high-acuity care involving high-complexity interventions, coordinated by a multidisciplinary team that includes oncology-trained nurses, advanced practice nurses, case managers, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy, psychosocial support, and physicians. The nurse promotes patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment; educates patients and families about managing illness or injury, post-treatment care at home, and medication administration; and develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with patients, families or caregivers, and the interprofessional team. The nurse plans proactively and communicates the care plan across the continuum, assesses physical, psychosocial, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs, and participates in patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and professional development activities. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to remain alert and work safely. The schedule is three 12-hour night shifts. The position is sign-on bonus eligible.
