CLINICAL NURSE- Mixed Acuity General Surgery Inpatient Unit
About The Position
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who partners with and advocates for patients, families, and significant others, providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to impact patient outcomes in a safe environment. The nurse functions in a versatile role, demonstrating professionalism and promoting excellence and autonomy in nursing practice. The nurse uses the nursing process and evidence-based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the department’s scope of service. The nurse serves as a guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader, and sentry, and collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter-professional team. The nurse is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and applicable regulatory standards. This position is in the Inpatient General Surgery Unit at Miami Valley Hospital and is full-time, working 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., 72 hours per pay period. A sign-on bonus is offered.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- BSN required, or must be obtained within five years of hire; proof of enrollment is required within six months of hire.
- Registered nurses with at least two years of acute-care hospital experience may forgo the BSN requirement by signing a Professional Certification MOU, which must be obtained within three years of hire.
- Valid Ohio RN license.
- Current AHA BLS certification required at the time of hire.
- Ability to multitask amid constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
