Registered Nurse (RN)/ Inpatient General Surgery Unit
About The Position
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who partners with and advocates for patients, families, and significant others, providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support that impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The RN functions in a versatile role, demonstrates professionalism, and promotes excellence and autonomy in nursing practice. Using the nursing process and evidence-based principles, the RN cares for a diverse caseload of patients within the department’s scope of service. The RN serves as a guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader, and sentry, and collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter-professional team. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and applicable regulatory standards. The position is in the Inpatient General Surgery Unit at Miami Valley Hospital.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- BSN required, or must be obtained within 5 years of hire; proof of enrollment is required within 6 months of hire.
- RNs with at least 2 years of acute care hospital experience may elect to forgo the BSN requirement and sign a Professional Certification MOU, which must be obtained within 3 years of hire.
- Valid Ohio RN license.
- Current AHA BLS certification required at the time of hire.
- Able to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
