About The Position

The Clinical Nurse II provides professional nursing care through assessment and accurate documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation to support patients’ comfort and well-being. The nurse carries out a plan of care aligned with unit competencies and the target patient population, and coordinates care delivery and education in collaboration with patients, families, and health care team providers to ensure safe, effective, quality care. The position follows organizational policies and requires the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Unit 42 is a 29-bed medical-surgical unit caring for patients with a range of medical conditions, including organ failure disorders, respiratory complications, infections, and psychosocial conditions. The unit emphasizes teamwork and collaboration. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

• High school graduation.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• ADN-prepared nurses hired after February 24, 2017, must complete a BSN degree by their fifth anniversary of employment as an RN with UKHA.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Clinical Nurse.
• Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN), single-state Kansas Board of Nursing license or compact license.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association, required within 14 days.
