About The Position

This part-time Clinical Nurse position at Missouri Baptist Medical Center involves working in Pre-op/post-op/PACU, with a schedule including Saturdays from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and one additional 12-hour shift during the week. The role also requires two weeknight (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) call shifts within a 6-week period and one weekend call rotation every 9 weeks (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM). The nurse will work in pre/post-op, outpatient recovery, and interventional pulmonology, within a department that includes 23 operating rooms. The position is supported by the BJC Registered Nurse Career Ladder, which aims to empower nurses for professional development, leadership, collaboration, education, and service excellence, allowing for career progression and corresponding pay increases. Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offering a full range of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management. It features a 24-hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Responsibilities

  • Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
  • Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
  • Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
