About The Position

Registered Nurse, Pre-Operative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Olympia Orthopaedic Associates, located at the Olympia Surgery Center. This is a full-time position with multiple scheduling options, primarily Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays. The team rotates on-call, and some overnight shifts may be required. The role involves administering care to patients prior to surgery, including pre-surgery medication and evaluating admission documents. In the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, managing post-operative nausea, vomiting, and pain, treating shivering, and monitoring surgical sites for complications.

Requirements

IV Therapy experience (starting, discontinuing IVs, and administering medication).
Graduate of an accredited State Board of Nursing program.
Current Registered Nurse in the State of Washington required.
Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certifications within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Administering care to patients prior to surgery.
Administer pre-surgery medication under the guidance of the physician and or physician assistant.
Evaluate and access admission documents, identify emergency procedures, and adhere to necessary pre-operation policies and procedures.
Monitors (heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and respiratory rate)
Treating symptoms of postoperative nausea and vomiting
Managing post-operative pain
Treating post-anesthetic shivering
Monitoring surgical site(s) for excessive bleeding, discharge, swelling, hematoma, redness, etc.
