About The Position

Provides direct patient care activities for outpatient Oncology patients, including Hematology patients and patients receiving non-Oncology infusions. The Outpatient Cancer Center administers medications, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and blood products. The nurse assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates care in accordance with nursing standards. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week in 8-hour weekday shifts with various start times at the MoBap Campus, 3009 North Ballas Road, Town & Country, Missouri.

Requirements

• Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner; this is a safety-sensitive position.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in nursing.
• Previous oncology experience.
• Chemo certification.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educate patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care needs, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver.
• Plan proactively and ensure communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patients' physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assess patient preferences and barriers to participation in care, including values and emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
