Oncology Nurse – Infusion

University of Utah Health•Salt Lake City, UT

About The Position

University of Utah Health is a patient-focused organization dedicated to enhancing health and well-being through patient care, research, and education. The Oncology – Infusion Registered Nurse provides direct bedside care to patients receiving intravenous cancer therapies and supportive treatments in outpatient infusion and acute care settings. The role includes real-time monitoring during treatment, early identification and management of infusion-related complications, and rapid response to high-risk events such as hypersensitivity reactions, extravasation, and other oncologic emergencies. As nurses progress through career levels, they manage increasingly complex therapies and unstable patient presentations while supporting safe treatment delivery across the infusion continuum. Advanced levels involve deep technical expertise, independent clinical decision-making, and bedside leadership in high-risk treatment environments. The position may be filled at multiple career levels depending on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skills. Candidates may be assessed through interviews and other job-related evaluations. The final level and corresponding compensation are determined at offer based on assessed competencies, experience, and alignment with level requirements. Different levels may require additional certification, education, and experience. Nurse Level 1 (N1) is an entry-level supervised learner developing foundational clinical skills while providing care under close supervision. Nurse Level 2 (N2) is a developing nurse who independently manages routine care and escalates more complex needs as appropriate. Nurse Level 3 (N3) is an experienced nurse who independently manages typical patient complexity, anticipates needs, and adapts care to clinical variations. Nurse Level 4 (N4) is an advanced clinician who leads complex cases and serves as a clinical resource and mentor to other nursing staff.
