Experienced Clinical Nurse - Nursing Resource Pool (float pool)
About The Position
The Nursing Resource Pool is seeking experienced Clinical Nurses with the flexibility to float to Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Interventional Radiology (IR). Orientation will be provided to ensure competency across specialty areas. MD Anderson is recognized for its oncology nursing excellence, being a five-time Magnet Recognized hospital. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree with at least two years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Medical/Surgical experience. This role involves floating to PACU and IR, Hematology, Surgical, and Medical cohorts during periods of decreased ICU census. The unit is currently recruiting for the night shift, working three 12-hour shifts from 7 pm to 7 am with rotating weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure
- Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing.
- OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification
- Certification in specialty practice area.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.
- Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
- Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
- Participates in data collection for current studies.
- Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
- Documents care according to established standards.
- Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems.
- Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
- Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
- Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
