About The Position

This state-of-the-art center provides advanced specialty and routine care with an emphasis on patient satisfaction and a focus on medical advancement. The unit is a high-volume, high-acuity surgical services department within a Level II Trauma Center, featuring 27 operating rooms at Main Campus and a Surgery Center, a dedicated vascular lab, and a cystoscopy suite. This department supports a broad and complex surgical case mix, including General Surgery (with da Vinci and SP robotic and bariatric programs), Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Cardiac and Vascular, Gynecology, and Plastics. As Clinical Nurse Manager, you will oversee a fast-paced perioperative environment with advanced technology, diverse specialties, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration. Operations: You will play a key role in ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix to support safe and efficient patient care, managing OR scheduling and staff productivity to support efficient daily operations, fostering a positive and trusting culture that promotes engagement, mentoring and developing emerging leaders, building leadership capability and succession within the department, and leading and supporting change initiatives to improve workflow, efficiency, and patient outcomes. Leadership Opportunity: In this role, you will lead clinical and operational performance across a large-scale perioperative department, drive quality, safety, and patient outcomes in a Level II Trauma setting, partner with surgeons, anesthesia, and executive leadership to support program growth and efficiency, and mentor and develop a high-performing nursing team in a complex surgical environment. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience Required
  • Two years of demonstrated informal leadership experience for internal candidates, which may include roles such as Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse, or participation in Shared Governance Councils Required
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) license Required
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Required
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification Required
  • One year of formal nursing leadership experience (external candidates) Required

  • Leverages data, technology, and evidence-based practices to drive decision-making and proactively mitigate risk.

  • Models effective communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and interdisciplinary partners.
  • Maintains 24-hour accountability for leadership and management of a designated patient care unit.
