About The Position

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse to join our new public surgical ward in this permanent, part-time position working 32hrs per week. This opportunity requires flexibility to work across all shift types over a seven-day roster. The ideal candidate will bring leadership capability along with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic hospital environment. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles are a part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — which opened early 2026. As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Requirements

  • Currently AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Demonstrated nursing experience within a general surgical and orthopaedics will be highly regarded or have transferable skills that can be developed with professional training
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principles
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or have a perioperative ANMAC occupation code for sponsorship purposes

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of clients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Provide clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education and research.
  • Support management activities, including portfolio responsibilities where applicable.
  • Achieve optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care.
  • Support the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision, along with staffing within budget requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth.
