About The Position

We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE for Duke Spine and Pain Management located in Raleigh, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients. Duke Health Integrated Practice comprises more than 110 primary and specialty outpatient clinics, extending the reach of the Duke Health mission across the state of North Carolina.

Requirements

  • Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. If candidate has another compact state RN license, NC state licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • BLS and ACLS is required.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking during 8 hr shift with the ability to move or lift at least fifty pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Epic preferred or other computerized charting system preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze patient data, make recommendations for nursing care plans, evaluate nursing care provided, document and communicate appropriately nursing actions taken and patient responses.
  • Plan, provide and document professional nursing care in ambulatory settings, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the nurse manager, charge nurse or practice manager.
  • Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care and serve as a team leader.
  • Assist with telephone triage support for patients seen by Duke Spine and Pain Management of Raleigh following clinic protocols and in accordance with the scope of the RN defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Assist with patient paperwork processing. (i.e. FMLA, DMV, etc)
  • Support the development of other staff and formal learners. Participate in the identification of clinical, operational and safety related performance improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
  • Participate in clinic or entity level performance improvement activities.
  • Assist with procedures and IV placements for trial procedures.
  • Set up sterile trays for procedures.
  • Tee up medication orders for procedures scheduled the following week.
  • Obtain cardiac clearance for patients on anticoagulants that are scheduled for procedures.
  • Assist with stocking incoming orders.
  • Stock exam rooms weekly.
  • Monthly expiration date checks for medications stocked in exam rooms.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
