Clinical Nurse Educator - Critical Care

Mercy is seeking a Clinical Education Specialist (RN) to support the onboarding, education, competency validation, and ongoing professional development of nursing and clinical co-workers. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and driving excellence in patient care through evidence-based practice and innovative learning strategies. The Clinical Education Specialist serves as a key resource for nursing staff, leaders, and interdisciplinary teams by developing and delivering educational programs that promote clinical excellence, patient safety, and a positive patient experience. This position supports orientation programs, competency validation, performance improvement initiatives, and continuing education for both licensed and unlicensed healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing with 3 years of critical care nursing experience, OR Associate degree in Nursing with 10 years of hospital nursing experience, OR Associate degree in Nursing with 5 years of hospital nursing experience and active enrollment in an RN-to-BSN program
- At least 3 years of critical care nursing experience
- Current applicable state nursing license
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice and the ability to positively influence patient care delivery
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of patient care equipment and clinical technology
Nice To Haves
- Specialty certification or active pursuit of certification related to area of responsibility
- Two years of teaching or educational experience
- Additional life support certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, TNCC, and/or ENPC
