About The Position

The technologist is responsible for performing routine, ambulatory, and prolonged EEG studies for patients of all ages in an inpatient setting. This role will support patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) as well as patients in other inpatient settings. This role requires adaptability to rapidly changing environments and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The technologist is expected to apply best practices and clinical expertise to tailor studies to each patient’s unique needs. Key responsibilities include accurate patient preparation, high-quality data acquisition, and maintaining a safe testing environment. Competency in neurodiagnostic procedural testing is essential, including electrode application for adult and pediatric EEGs using the standard 10-20 or 10-10 systems. Additional duties include monitoring and maintaining EEG recordings for surgical, adult, and pediatric patients, responding to seizures, troubleshooting equipment, assisting with SPECT injections, and providing shift reports on relevant patient information. Acting as a liaison between nurses and physicians, the EEG Technologist ensures effective communication and collaboration to support patient care. The technologist will also mentor student technologists rotating through the inpatient practice. Requirements

  • Specialist I: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Specialist I: Graduate of an accredited neurodiagnostic technology program or two years of relevant neurodiagnostic technology experience required.
  • Specialist I: Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Specialist I: Required certification through ABRET, ABEM, and/or AAET must be obtained within two years of employment in the laboratory of hire.
  • Specialist I: Current Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Specialist II: High school diploma or GED and a total of 4 years of experience: 2 years of Neurodiagnostic experience with 2 years of experience in laboratory specialty (e.g. IONM EEG, IONM EMG/EP, EMU, MEG) applying to.
  • Specialist II: Must be a current Registered Technologist to apply.
