About The Position

Under the direction of Advanced Practice Clinician or Medical Doctor, the Medical Assistant provides safe therapeutic care for a diverse population of university-age patients in a university setting. The StateHR classification for this position is Clinical Medical Technologist 1.

Requirements

  • Current or be eligible for at the time of hire: Medical Assistant - Certified (WA State)
  • Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated awareness, knowledge, and skills to interact effectively with persons representing a wide range of diverse backgrounds such as low income/underemployed populations, students of color, LGBTQ and international students.
  • Current CPR Certification
  • All employees must comply with our Immunization policies, including Proof of Rubeola Measles Immunity within 60-days of hire.
  • Maintains BCLS certification
  • Maintains MA-C certification and certification remains in good standing with the State of Washington
  • Successful fit testing and the ability to wear an N95 mask for several hours
  • Maintains tetanus and pertussis vaccinations
  • Proof of measles, mumps, rubella, hep B & varicella immunity
  • The successful candidate must be eligible to participate in federal healthcare programs.
  • Finalists will be screened against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities and the Washington State Health Care Authority Provider Termination and Exclusion List.
  • All new employees must comply with the immunization policy and show employment eligibility verification as required by the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service before beginning work at WWU.
  • A thorough background check will be conducted on all new hires which includes a sexual misconduct background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant
  • Experience performing Laboratory testing and Phlebotomy
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or equivalent education/experience
  • Medical Assistant Phlebotomy Certification (WA State)
  • Phlebotomy Certification
