About The Position

Under the general guidance, direction and supervision of the Clinical Learning Team Lead, the Clinical Learning Specialist – Patient Care Services (CLS-PCS) is responsible for providing skill assessment and training for new and current Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW) staff, the majority of whom are assigned to Clinical Operations. Training functions may include but are not limited to the following areas: healthcare competency assessment, insurance and electronic medical record (EMR) application software such as EPIC Care, Tapestry and Cadence appointment scheduling, orientation for new employees, PC skills, OSHA standards, and customer service skills. Additionally, the incumbent develops training curriculum and materials as required. The Clinical Learning Specialist- PCS is expected to function at a professional level with independence in decision making and judgment. The incumbent knows and abides by all Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin (GHC-SCW) organizational and departmental policies, sets personal standards and strives for high quality work in completing assignments, performs job duties in a timely manner, and represents the organization in a positive manner. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Health Care Reception or prior experience with training including teaching and/or leadership experience.
  • Ability to travel to various work sites.
  • Employee is expected to provide personal transportation.
  • Possession of a valid, Wisconsin driver license if the employee is operating a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain or possession of relevant certifications required to provide training (e.g., Epic).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with English punctuation, grammar and spelling.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively use or learn computer software programs such as MS Office including word processing, spreadsheet, email, MS Teams and presentation programs such as PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn and effectively use various healthcare related systems software.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the major business operations of a managed care organization or business operations of a staff model clinic organization.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop and provide educational programs in support of new and existing employees.
  • Ability to develop and prepare educational materials.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply project planning and project management practices and principles.
  • Effective planning and communication skills.
  • Orientation to detail.

  • Ability to maintain organizational, personnel related and patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn HIPAA privacy requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with both technical/systems training as well as non-technical training classes (e.g. customer service skills).
  • Experience in performing technical and/or professional level education (e.g. training and competency testing, policies and procedures, and performing in-services) and designing educational/training materials.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices used in healthcare clinical operations.
  • Experience with Epic systems.
