About The Position

The Clinical Lead Respiratory Therapist will serve as a resource person for respiratory therapy staff within their department, unit or area to include coordination of clinical processes and activities, associate orientation and training, process and quality oversight, and integration into the staffing plan. As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (Required)
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • NRP1 - Neonatal Resuscitation Program - American Academy of Pediatrics
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association
  • RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist - American Association for Respiratory Care
  • Must obtain CPFT/RPFT within 12 months of hire (for Pulmonary Lab specialization).
  • Must obtain NPS within 12 months of hire (for Neonatal specialization).
  • Must obtain AE-C or ACCS within 12 months of hire (for Adult Acute specialization).
  • Skilled with use of advanced practice technologies relative to position scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers all respiratory care procedures and/or testing provided by the department, recording pertinent data within the electronic medical record. Provides appropriate instruction/education to associates, patients, family members, physicians, affiliated students, and any other member of the medical center community.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in management of daily operations, workload management and staffing assignments, provides leadership and guidance to relevant healthcare staff as required.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the operation of all equipment relative to the assigned department; Demonstrates knowledge of accepted standards, policies, procedures, staff responsibilities and instrumentation related to provision of respiratory care and/or pulmonary function testing.

  • Assists in the provision of associate orientation, on-going education and training, annual competency recertification’s and guidance to relative departmental staff as required.
  • Intervenes and provides feedback in clinical concerns as they arise.
  • Attends all department meetings and assists in multi-disciplinary team meetings and specialty projects as they arise.
  • Contributes to positive team culture and helps maintain positive team morale.
  • Identifies aspects of care with potential for quality assurance indicators and assists in development for use.
  • Utilizes research findings for patient care planning and implementation in coordination with department leadership.
  • Participates in clinical research activities as they arise and acts as clinical resource to associates.
