The Clinical Laboratory Assistant performs phlebotomy through venous and capillary puncture following established procedures in accordance with age specific considerations of patients. This role also receives and collects urine specimens to perform all routine tests, performs specimen preparation for all procedures/tests, and maintains supplies inventory communicating needs to supervisor. The assistant reports varying in-house test results and all abnormal findings to clinical staff. They comply with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, and infection control, practice sterile technique, prevent cross contamination, and handle blood and body fluids while dealing with infectious patients. General safety procedures are followed, and appropriate PPE is utilized at all times while working with patient specimens.
