About The Position

Texas Health is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Assistant for the Laboratory at Texas Health Plano in Plano, Texas. This is a PRN position with overnight and weekend hours. The role supports laboratory operations by reviewing departmental results, following established laboratory procedures, and performing duties in other laboratory areas as required by the hospital entity. Where phlebotomy is performed, the employee follows procedures for specimen collection, patient identification, and labeling appropriate to the patient's age. The employee also handles and processes specimens according to laboratory procedures and safety guidelines, including handling unacceptable specimens. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
Six months of experience as a phlebotomist or completion of a one-semester course in phlebotomy.

PBT(ASCP) – Phlebotomy Technician upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

Performs daily review of results from the department.
When performing phlebotomy, follows laboratory procedures for specimen collection, patient identification, and labeling as appropriate for the patient's age.
Follows laboratory procedures and safety guidelines for handling and processing specimens.
Follows laboratory procedures for handling unacceptable specimens.
Follows established laboratory test procedures.
Performs procedures in other areas of the Laboratory as required by the hospital entity.
