About The Position
This is a non-licensed position that assists the Clinical Laboratory Scientist by performing laboratory procedures within limits specified by California law. Duties include receiving and processing specimens, preparing sendouts, setting up microbiology cultures, performing instrument maintenance, and operating analyzers under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist. The Clinical Lab Technician must be able to perform EKGs and phlebotomy and hold at least CPT I certification.
Requirements
- An AA degree in science, or equivalent experience in lieu of the degree.
- CPT I (Certified Phlebotomy Technician I) certification.
- Ability to perform EKGs and phlebotomy.
Nice To Haves
- A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or biochemistry.
- CPT II (Certified Phlebotomy Technician II) certification.
- Two years of working experience in a clinical or commercial laboratory, including six months of experience as a certified phlebotomist (CPT I).
- Prior working experience as a laboratory technician.
- Knowledge of a Laboratory Information System.
