Clinical IT Support Specialist

About The Position

The clinical IT support specialist provides support and quality assurance for information technology systems and clinical applications impacting all clinical departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Monitors incoming help desk chats and phone calls to assist end-users with timely resolution, or redirects issues to appropriate staff. Provides essential end-user support across multiple systems, including password resets, phone application troubleshooting, and routine maintenance. Performs basic troubleshooting for end-users experiencing printer, browser, or Electronic Health Record (EHR) system issues. Advise clinical/IT staff on steps taken when user issues remain unresolved. Performs routine audits, including review of scheduled and automated reports to identify and resolve errors and discrepancies. Monitors daily system backups and archive EHR charts as needed. Manage and process requests from multiple group email and fax inboxes, verifying information, entering necessary updates, and forwarding to the correct personnel. Assist with IMQM management and annual Roster verification reporting. Support the development and maintenance of EHR reports as requested. Maintain the strictest confidentiality of all information. Attend required meetings and perform related duties and special projects as requested. Complies with Virginia Women’s Center’s policies and procedures. Follows guidelines required by HIPAA and OSHA regulations. Maintains appropriate attendance and punctuality as defined by Virginia Women’s Center.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of basic computer system administration.
  • Knowledge of practice management and clinical management software.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.
  • Knowledge of data analysis, systems design, problem identifications, medical data processing practice.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, and discretion to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Skill in maintaining departmental quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems, using skill and ingenuity to evaluate multiple factors and find creative solutions to problems.
  • Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities, managing work responsibilities in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest office policy/procedure confidentiality.
  • Accuracy in computer data entry.
  • Typing ability of 40 wpm.
