About The Position

Kids Above All is seeking master level 2nd Year clinical interns for our Lake County location. Interns will work closely with house therapists, meeting with the clinical supervisor prior to the start date to determine the best fit. Intern hours are flexible, approximately 24 hours per week, with a consistent and predictable schedule. Interns will provide auxiliary clinical services, potentially taking on additional family cases. They will work with clients in the milieu setting, implementing interventions for processing, mediating arguments, coaching coping strategies, conflict resolution, and problem-solving socio-emotional issues. Interns will assist clients in applying therapeutic strategies in real-world applications and collaborate with house therapists to meet clinical needs. This role includes conducting home visits and working in a socially diverse environment. Interns will also develop clinical resources, group curriculum, and reward programs to support the therapeutic milieu. They will be responsible for the complete paper documentation for one client, including ITPs, MHAs, Staffing notes, and court summaries, within the appropriate timeframe. Collaboration with collateral contacts and external team members is expected, always keeping the client's treatment and advocacy in mind. Interns will be invited to attend offered training and house team meetings.

Requirements

  • Students in a Master’s Level program for social work or counseling.
  • Interest in clinical treatment services for the adolescent population.
  • Must be 21 years of age to intern.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with youth populations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing auxiliary clinical services to clients on an individual basis.
  • Picking up additional family cases as recommended by the treatment team.
  • Working with all clients in the milieu setting to provide clinically appropriate interventions.
  • Assisting clients in applying therapeutic strategies in real-world applications.
  • Collaborating with house therapist around how to best meet the clinical needs of clients in the home.
  • Conducting home visits.
  • Seeking opportunities to build clinical resources, group curriculum, rewards programs, etc.
  • Taking over the paper documentation for one client in its entirety and completing necessary documents within the appropriate time frame.
  • Collaborating with collateral contacts and maintaining communication with external team members on behalf of the client.
  • Attending any training offered during their internship.
  • Attending house team meetings if available.
