About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, the C.N.A. / G.N.A. Clinical Instructor will be responsible for delivering hands-on clinical training in an approved healthcare setting, ensuring students develop competency in fundamental nursing assistant skills. This role focuses on teaching and evaluating essential nursing assistant skills, ensuring compliance with Maryland Board of Nursing standards, maintain a safe learning environment, and supporting student development through guidance, feedback, and performance assessment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of MD.
  • Minimum of two years’ nursing experience
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the provision of long-term care facility services
  • Providing direct client care or supervisory oversight in a long-term care facility or unit, including in a geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, or other long-term care setting; and
  • Teaching a nursing assistant training program that complies with federal law.
  • Complete a course with a minimum of 16 hours of instruction in the principles of adult education, or have a minimum of two (2) years of teaching adults or supervising nursing assistants
  • Must meet state requirements to serve as a CNA Instructor (such as Train-the-Trainer approval or equivalent certification).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills include the ability to market and relate tactfully with customers and other members of the community.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or Agency requirements.
  • Criminal Background check
  • Current CPR & First Aide Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Five years’ management experience in the healthcare field.
  • Five years of teaching experience preferably in certification administration.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and guide students in clinical settings, assigning patients based on learning needs and demonstrating proper C.N.A. procedures.
  • Ensure & implement all training activities in all areas meet the Maryland Board of Nursing for the CNA / GNA program requirement.
  • Teach foundational nursing skills, patient care techniques, and professional ethics in the clinical instruction.
  • Demonstrate and supervise skills such as vital signs, infection control, mobility assistance, and personal care tasks.
  • Evaluate student performance during clinical training through skills demonstration and clinical assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and compliance documentation.
  • Facilitate clinical rotations in an approved healthcare facility and monitor student performance.
  • Provide supervision and clinical evaluation of each trainee at the clinical training site until the student demonstrates proficiency in that skill.
  • Collaborate with facility staff, preceptors, and nurse managers to plan an organized clinical experience.
  • Always ensure student and patient safety, maintaining strict patient confidentiality while developing students’ critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Provide support, guidance, and constructive feedback to students throughout clinical instruction.
  • Complete all required reporting and communicate progress to the Program Coordinator.
  • Conduct student’s clinical assessment and identify variables that may affect student’s learning.
  • Delegate and monitor student’s tasks.
  • Supervise clinical laboratory experiences.
  • Perform performance evaluation on all students at the end of the C.N.A./ G.N.A. program.
  • Assess the environment for safety and cleanliness and make recommendations.
  • Assess infection control practices including proper hand washing.
  • Ensure that the equipment is being maintained properly.
  • Ensure that necessary supplies are available.
  • Make sure that emergency protocol is in place.
  • Evaluate student performance and update skill validation competency as required by the agency.
  • All other duties as assigned.
