About The Position

This Clinical Informatics role serves as a key liaison between clinical operations and Information Systems, leading the design, implementation, optimization, and adoption of Epic clinical applications to support clinical transformation across Memorial Hermann. The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical informatics, Epic workflows (preferably Epic Orders or related clinical modules), workflow design, process improvement, and full-cycle system implementations while partnering with physicians, nurses, operational leaders, and ISD teams to drive efficient, technology-enabled care delivery. This highly collaborative, project-focused position requires strong problem-solving, change management, and stakeholder engagement skills. Due to the operational and onsite partnership requirements of the role, candidates must reside in the Houston metropolitan area.

Requirements

  • Clinical degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, or equivalent degree or Bachelors (or higher) in Informatics required
  • At least three (3) years of experience in direct patient care setting using Clinical Information Systems preferred
  • Experience in change management, clinical informatics, project management, quality improvement methods and tools, data analysis methods and tools, decision support methods and tools, and electronic health records is preferred
  • Experience in the implementation of large and complex Information Systems in a healthcare environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of Information Technology and Microsoft Office tools, including experience in workflow documentation, preferably with Microsoft Visio or equivalent workflow documentation tool
  • Working knowledge of eLearning tools such as Adobe Captivate, Adobe Connect, or equivalent is preferred
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work individually and in a team with all levels of the organization
  • Effective Customer Relationship Management Skills necessary for efficient problem resolution to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Ability to understand concepts and translate them into actions
  • Candidates must reside in the Houston metropolitan area.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic Certification or Accreditation in Clinical Informatics, Clinical Builder, or Clinical Applications modules is preferred.
  • Preferred license in clinical discipline; Certification in clinical/health informatics is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development of an overall strategy for clinical transformation by using CIS technology.
  • Participates in development for Memorial Hermann.
  • Plans, organizes, and assists in CIS implementations, and the infrastructure required to support these applications, to meet current and future technology needs.
  • Supports the business goals and objectives of Memorial Hermann.
  • Identifies opportunities for optimization of clinical processes leading to increased efficiencies and reduced unnecessary variation.
  • Actively seeks input from physicians, nurses, and other professionals to identify problems, design, and implement solutions, and communicate the findings to the clinical staff, Chief Nursing Office (CNO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and Information Systems Divisions (ISD) leadership.
  • Works to increase utility, promote adoption, create sustainability of the CIS through multi-disciplinary teams, and create an infrastructure for reporting quality information.
  • Maintains an effective communication line between Facility Administration and Departments, System Executives, Service Lines, System Councils and Committees, and Information Systems, promoting the Informatics and Information Systems Division’s credibility and value in the organization.
  • Supports all requests for projects, service requests, and problem tickets through the established channels within Informatics and Information Systems Division.
  • Assists with defining project metrics of success for technology deployments.
  • Assists with provision of high quality technology and change management consulting services ensuring data integrity, vocabulary consistency, and optimizing report methods while maintaining the high standards of the Informatics and Information Systems Division.
  • Actively participates with implementation team(s) during installation of new computer functions or enhancements to existing functions, which affect diagnostic and clinical areas.
  • Assumes shared responsibility for the success of assigned projects.
  • Demonstrates and presents system functions and capabilities to visitors and other audiences, presenting the leading edge and comprehensive nature of Memorial Hermann.
  • Demonstrates successful use of Informatics and Information Systems Division procedures when working on project teams, including use of planned agendas, project plans, and minutes of regularly scheduled meetings.
  • Maintains/develops other administrative and communication skills such as conducting meetings, writing, and speaking clearly and in a businesslike manner.
  • Responsible for translating process and workflow decisions into educational materials, leveraging change management and adult learning principles.
  • Works closely with the Support Services, Facility Informatics Team, ISD Project Managers, and ISD analysts to coordinate the strategic changes determined by the clinical leadership/executive team and IS leadership.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
