About The Position

The Clinical High School Intern supports Sanford Health operations and processes while gaining firsthand experience aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. The intern works collaboratively with organizational leadership to develop knowledge and skills and support the delivery of quality healthcare.

The position supports the PACU or Radiology area and assists with direct patient care based on the assigned department or team and delegated responsibilities. Duties may also include patient-safety tasks, basic patient care and daily activities within the intern’s scope of practice, documenting care and services, clerical work, sanitation, and stocking supplies. The intern also assists with delegated projects and administrative duties and attends training and development opportunities to learn about organizational processes and functions. CNA certification is required. The department details state this position will be 8 to 10 hours a week.

Requirements

• Be a high school student participating in a pre-approved Sanford clinical internship program.
• Hold a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
• Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with organizational leadership to develop knowledge and skills and help improve the delivery of quality healthcare.
• Assist with direct patient care in the assigned clinical department or team, within delegated responsibilities and scope of practice.
• Complete assigned patient-safety duties.
• Assist with basic patient health care needs and daily activities.
• Document care and services and perform other clerical work related to the assigned department.
• Follow sanitation standards and stock supplies as needed.
• Assist with delegated projects and administrative duties.
• Attend training and development opportunities to learn about organizational processes and functions.
